Most hotels offer wireless internet access but you need to bring your own device since only very few hotels offer guest computers. Nevertheless even in the smallest towns there are public internet cafes close to our hotels.
Cellular phone service covers all the towns but not all the roads nor the rural areas; to make sure your device is compatible with the local system we suggest you bring a multiple-band mobile phone. Public pay phones are not in use any more but calls can be made from the hotels.
There is a postal service but overseas service may take several weeks.
The official language in Mexico is Spanish. Most people in our travel region do not speak English very well, sometimes not even in hotels or travel companies. Ethnic groups like the Rarámuri in the Sierra Tarahumara (Copper Canyon) speak their own languages and often either don’t know or want to use Spanish.
