Historical Center & National Museum of Anthropology
Morning pick up at your hotel. Visit of the Historical Center of Mexico City (UNESCO declared Cultural World Heritage Site) including the Zócalo (main square), the National Palace with its Mural Paintings by Diego Rivera, the Metropolitan Cathedral and outside view of the archeological site of the former Aztec Main Temple. Drive along Reforma Boulevard with photo stop at the Independence Monument and to arrive at the National Museum of Anthropology located within the Chapultepec Park. Visit of the main exhibition halls of Mexico’s principal museum. After museum visit, return transfer to your hotel.
Pyramids of Teotihuacan, Square of the Aztecs’ Last Stand & Basilica of Guadalupe
Morning pick up at your hotel. The first stop is at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, where you’ll visit the Aztec archeological site of Tlatelolco, the colonial St. Jacob-church and the contemporary urban buildings in the background. Afterwards you go on to visit the Basilica of Guadalupe (both the old and the new one), containing the original image of Latin America’s saint, the Virgin of Guadalupe. The afternoon is dedicated to the visit of the preaztec archeological site of Teotihuacán (UNESCO declared Cultural World Heritage Site). Attractions include the Citadel, the Quetzalcóatl-Temple, the Causeway of the Death, the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and the Quetzalpapalotl-Palace, among others. Evening return to your hotel in Mexico-City.
The floating gardens of Xochimilco & the National University
Pick up at your hotel. Drive to the southern part of Mexico City to reach the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco (UNESCO declared Cultural World Heritage Site). In prehispanic times, the Aztecs built artificial floating plots called Chinampas in the shallow water of the lake to gain land for agricultural purposes. Enjoy a pleasant ride onboard a typical Trajinera - Boat through the ancient channels. Following the boat tide, you’ll reach University City, built on an ancient lava field of volcano Xitle and renowned for its remarkable architecture and sculptures (UNESCO declared Cultural World Heritage Site). Afterwards, we´ll transfer you back to your hotel.
Sanctuary of the Monarch Butterflies & Valle de Bravo
Early morning start of our tour: Drive out of Mexico City and crossing the mountains to get to the neighboring valley of Toluca. A little bit further you’ll reach the mountainous area where you will visit the Sanctuary of the Monarch Butterfly at Piedra Herrada - forest. An approximately 1-hour-walk up the rather steep hill takes you through the woods up to the magical place, where millions of butterflies cover the trees and open their wings with the morning sunshine - an incredible spectacle! Around noon, you’ll proceed to get to the tiny town of Valle de Bravo on the shore of a picturesque reservoir-lake. Time at your free disposition to explore the local craft market, before you begin the return trip to your hotel in Mexico City in the afternoon.
